Meet Coastal Plain

Coastal Plain came together in 2025 when Nathan Seibel and Hugh Bennett found themselves sharing a stage at the Eastern Shore Bluegrass Association (ESBA) in Caroline County. What started as an impromptu first meeting turned into something exciting and real.

The members of the group found one another through Maryland’s bluegrass scene, building a close-knit connection rooted in their shared love of music. Pickett Brewing's Bluegrass Jam in Baltimore and the Pie Fry Music Festival of Bel Air, MD, are events where the band members jammed for the first time. This creates a bond that is highlighted by the group’s tight performance, natural chemistry, and energetic sound.

The first single release from their self-titled EP is the heartfelt bluegrass song, Seven Hours to Happiness. Recorded with the entire EP in a farmhouse in Caroline County, Maryland, the tune captures the essence of backroads and bluegrass. The group will be performing in Baltimore and the surrounding areas, be sure to catch the band when they make it to your neck of the woods.

Hugh Ellis Bennett is a songwriter and guitarist from North Carolina who hangs his hat on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Deeply influenced by life experiences, cultural traditions of Appalachia, and softened by the flowing tides of coastal life, his playing reaches both backwards and forwards in time. Hugh has embarked on multiple solo and collaborative songwriting projects, each resembling a stepping stone that have led him to Coastal Plain. From a gentle ballad to a mind-bending journey, Hugh constructs a narrative through lyric and note.

Wyatt Graham

Nathan Seibel

Wyatt Graham

Mandolin / Vocals

Wyatt is a rhythmic architect for the band. With an extensive jam band background, he is most likely to take a song somewhere no one expected. His installments of double-stops and tight harmonies round out the sound of the group. A founding member of Maryland’s own, Uncle Kunkel’s One Gram Band, Wyatt‘s musical roots are a large part of the band’s personality.
